Fine motor skills
Work to develop muscles in the hand which are essential for performing everyday tasks including self-care and play activities
Self-care skills
Teeth brushing, dressing (zips, buttons and shoe laces), showering, eating and hygiene and personal grooming
Gross motor skills

Behaviour
This theory helps us understand and promote development for children who experience emotional, intellectual and mental challenges
Emotional/self-regulation skills
Emotional control and regulation is taking any action that alters the intensity of an emotional experience. It doesn’t mean suppressing or avoiding emotions. With emotional regulation skills, you can influence which emotions you have as well as how you express them.
Play skills
I create opportunities for yourself and the child to play together (e.g. before dinner, at the end of each day) and complete activities that are fun and that the child finds enjoyable.
Executive Functional skills
Executive functioning skills facilitate the behaviors required to plan and achieve goals. The fundamental skills related to executive function include proficiency in adaptable thinking, planning, self-monitoring, self-control, working memory, time management, and organization.
Social skills
A social skill is any competence facilitating interaction and communication with others where social rules and relations are created, communicated, and changed in verbal and nonverbal ways. The process of learning these skills is called socialization. Lack of such skills can cause social awkwardness.
